The understanding the author has of the Coiombian conflict is exposed in this article, in arder to classify the country into eight strategic geo­ graphic areas. He then discusses critica/ issues such as unemployment, corruption, drug smuggling and impunity. Considerations are a/so made regarding the main factors generating violence, and a/so regarding the actors on this violence. Sorne of these factors such as time, the use of geograph y, po pulation and the international sphere are mentioned as well. An interpretation of the conflict and of the relation the fa ter has with a series of challenges faced by Colombia (Human RightS Law, drug smu­ ggling, terrorism, environment, preservation of democracy, intelligence and interna! migrations), is a/so provided. Finall y, the article concludes with the enunciation of an integral strategic propasa! far conflict solving.
