The study was conducted in the watershed of Cabrera, municipality of Pasto (Narino), located east of the city of Pasto 7.5km at an altitude between 2725m and 3500m (Gomez, 2003) broken. The selection and establishment of agroforestry practices was conducted jointly with the community, based on the methodology of the Guide to Diagnosis and Sustainable Reorganization of Rural Finca (WSBI, 2003). As a result, a total of 2222 seedlings established in hedges, in 18 farms covering an area of 3.33km was obtained. Making capacity of community agroforestry arrangements analyzed, estimating a 54% probability of adoption of agroforestry arrangement of hedges. The attributes of superiority, compatibility, simplicity, feasibility and observability were taken into account. The plots for carbon monitoring and evaluation were established in 8 farms of producers representing 36% (1.2 kms) of all hedges established in the area with three species (Alnus jorullensis, Acacia decurrens and Morella pubescens) with four repetitions per species (12 plots and 66 trees / plot). Survival, height and basal diameter of 0, 30 and 60 days were subjected to analysis of variance - ANOVA, where no significant differences (p <0.05) for the variables height and diameter were observed.
