Teaching and learning in virtual environments are topics that are gaining importance in last years with the increasing use of qualitative and quantitative information and communication technologies; although, nowadays there is not much information about the formative and learning possibilities that this kind of teaching offers; there is not systematic research that shows the qualities and pertinence of it. There are three points of views about teaching and learning in virtual environments: one optimistic, another one pessimistic and a third one that invites to assume a reflexive attitude, in which is possible to observe the complexity of educative and pedagogic process. The research group Educacion en ambientes virtuales (EAV) thinks as a part of the third point of view, because it believes that teaching must be reflected and criticized actions that assure that teaching and education are not going to become instrumental acts in which students just follows orders. In this article it is described the pedagogic and didactic propose of EAV, for the design of courses in virtual environments. In a first moment, is done a reflection about what is a Propose and the purpose of what it is done; then, it is made a balance about how is the university teaching and what are the beliefs and attitudes of higher education teachers in relation with teaching in general and about teaching in virtual environments in particular; in the third moment of this article, are shown the principal concepts of this Propose, since there, it is described how the Propose is configured for the design of virtual environment courses up to two tools: Graphic visualization and Learning activities route.
