Thanks to Colciencias support and a joint, collaborative, transversal and interdisciplinary effort between Universidad del Norte, Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana and Universidad de la Guajira, these three Universities worked on the design, development and implementation of educational videos repositories as part of the Colombian Digital Library (BDCOL), allowing open access to digital contents to support the learning-teaching processes on higher education levels, through the use of a high speed network, named RENATA. The aim of this proposal was to develop short videoclips , where teachers explain a single concept, an experiment or a laboratory procedure, among other kinds of concepts. On the project’s development the researchers wrote some pedagogical, technological and production guidelines in order to create videos and integrate them successfully into higher education repositories, bearing in mind the country’s framework on the making of educational resources. It also encouraged teachers into the self-making of educational videos, in order to increase the current offer available on repositories attached to the Colombian Digital Library (BDCOL). Such strategies allow more visibility to the academic and scientific production of a national origin. In order to promote this development, a collaborative effort is needed, where each University and its experts determine, use, implement and develop unified policies and standards thought as integration models to produce, use and catalogue the educational audiovisual material.
