Objective: To determine the prevalence of pregnancy and demographic,social, family and economic characteristics among adolescents aged 10 to19 years old in the municipality of Carepa, Colombia. Methods: Descriptivestudy, conducted in Carepa, Colombia, between July and September, whichused a survey aimed at seeking information on the prevalence of pregnancyand demographic, social, family and economic characteristics. Descriptivemeasures were applied to present the absolute and relative frequencies ofthe qualitative variables and summary measures for the quantitative variablesand the results are presented in tables and text. Results: A total of566 surveys were applied to women between 10 and 19 years of age, theprevalence of adolescent pregnancy was 17.8%, 69.5% were in incompletesecondary education, 51.9% were socioeconomic strata, 37.9% had monthlyhousehold income of less than 500 thousand or less, 50% of them were 15 years of age (RI: 5 years), 8.4% were physically or verbally maltreated and 1.3 % Wereraped by their father or relative. Conclusions: The study found that the prevalence ofadolescent pregnancy in Carepa was 17.8%.
