The development of new products for the biomedical sector requires specific knowledge, skills and competencies that guarantee the safety and precision of he practices to benefit patients. The main purpose of the research was to define a reference framework for the training of students who are researching the design and development of new biomedical orthopedic products, founded in the learning strategies based on ABP problems and learning guided by AOP projects. The model incorporated the process of implant and prosthesis design aimed at specific patients, which is supported by the integration of various technologies, such as ICT, BioCAD, CAD, CAE and RP. The implementation of the model was later evaluated, allowing us to identify its contribution as a facilitator in the process of research training and the reinforcement of required competencies for the development of research projects for degree-track work.
