Resumen El articulo analiza las condiciones en que se dio la produccion del Festival Internacional de Musica del Caribe en Cartagena de Indias, Colombia, entre 1982 y 1996. Para tal proposito se tienen en cuenta las distintas etapas del Festival, asi como tambien, los elementos internos y externos que condicionaron la aparicion y desaparicion del mismo. Abstract The article analyzes the conditions surrounding the production of the International Caribbean Music Festival in Cartagena, Colombia, between 1982 and 1996. The author examines the different stages of the Festival, as well as internal and external factors that conditioned the appearance and demise of the event through time.
