We argue that the species illustrated by Luer under the name Lepanthes dactyla in his monograph of Lepanthes subgen. Brachycladium does not represent what was originally intended by Garay when proposing the name. The specimen depicted by Luer is here formally recognized and described as Andinia lueri. It can be easily distinguished from the actual A. dactyla by the smaller fl owers with sepals that are spiculate along the margins –vs. glabrous–, the petals with fi liform lobes, sparsely long ciliate, the lateral lobes equal and opposite –vs. lobes fi nger-like, short hirsute throughout, thickened and unequal–, and sub-orbicular lip with ciliate margins –vs. cordate lip with glabrous margins–. Both species are fully illustrated and described
