Resumen El articulo que corre en estas paginas tiene el proposito de alcanzar los principales aportes de Eugenio Maria de Hostos (1839-1903) acerca de la integracion de America Latina, uno de los principales problemas e imperativos de nuestro tiempo en esta parte del mundo. Sin embargo, la formacion de bloques de paises tambien es un hecho que ocurre en todo el planeta. Se trata de una de las grandes tendencias de la politica y economia contemporaneas. En la porcion del mundo que habitamos, este fenomeno fue anunciado por diversos pensadores. Y ahora se convierte en realidad. Entre tales precursores figura Eugenio Maria de Hostos, preclaro intelectual puertorriqueno, que vio a la integracion latinoamericana como un proceso gradual o por etapas, en los aspectos politico, economico, educativo y cultural. Nuestro personaje recibio influencia del pensamiento europeo, a traves de la corriente filosofica del positivismo, pero sin someterse a todos sus postulados. No fue extranjerizante. Su accion y su pensamiento tuvieron el sello de la autonomia intelectual de America Latina. De alli su gran preocupacion por la educacion en todos los paises latinoamericanos que recorrio. Con su pensamiento latinoamericanista, Hostos contribuyo a abrir el camino de diversos organismos regionales y sub regionales de nuestros dias. El presente texto es el resultado de una investigacion de caracter cualitativo y de reflexion en torno a las ideas del mencionado personaje, respecto a la aspiracion integracionista de America Latina. Se ha utilizado la bibliografia del propio autor objeto de estudio, asi como las fuentes de diversos intelectuales que se ocupan de esta tematica. Palabras clave America Latina | integracion Abstract The article that is presented on these pages is intended to reach the main contributions of Eugenio Maria de Hostos (1839-1903) about the integration of Latin America, one of the major issues and imperatives of our time in this part of the world. However, the formation of blocs of countries it is also a fact that happens all over the planet. It is one of the major trends in contemporary politics and the economy. In the portion of the world that we inhabit, this phenomenon was announced by various thinkers. And now becomes reality. Between such precursors figure Eugenio Maria de Hostos, lucid intellectual Puerto Rican, which saw to the Latin American integration as a gradual process or by stages, in the political, economic, educational and cultural aspects. Our thinker received the influence of European thought, through the philosophical current of positivism, but without being subjected to all its tenets. It was not unpatriotic. His action and thought had the stamp of the intellectual autonomy of Latin America. Then his great concern for the education in all the Latin American countries he visited. De Hostos helped to open the path of various regional institutions and sub-regional of our days with his Latin American thought. This text is the result of a qualitative nature and reflection around the ideas of the above-mentioned thinker, about the integrationist aspiration of Latin America.
