The following article will analyze the processes of spontaneous, directed and armed colonization developed in the department of Arauca in the decade of the 70s, illustrating the social context in which colonists and peasants were united in the search of better living conditions in an inhospitable land, abandoned by the Colombian State, the failed distribution of land by the Colombian Institute of Agrarian Reform, the road incommunication that almost completely pushed this region away from the national scenario, among other aspects that were overflowing and ending in the consolidation of the Front Domingo Lain of the National Liberation Army, currently in force.
