Since the Middle Ages the woman has been linked with certain feminine stereotypes that make an allusion to her maternal function and her role inside the domestic area and the private life. Even though this conception has evolved, because it is seen that nowadays the woman has the possibility of performing in other fields such as academic and labour and she has built other options of focusing her life project and her personal realization out of her maternal function, the stigmatization and negative conceptions from the society, show that there is still a lack in this matter. Because of that, the present research had the objective of analyzing the experience of 6 women with ages between 30- 55 with relation to their decision of not becoming a mother, using the model of in-depth interviews with the aim of inquiring into the representations and meanings that the women attribute to this phenomenon which has taken place during the last years, and in this way realize an approach to the new constructions of the identity that are influenced by this decision and how it impacts in the conception of what a woman is in a society which exalts the motherhood as the final feminine realization.
