Basis and objectives. Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of mortality and morbidity in adults over 45, these diseases can be generated by the increase of blood lipids such as LDL cholesterol and triglycerides; To lower these lipids in blood medications such as statins are used, these drugs have undoubted benefit, but the extensive use of statins has led to the increase of some unwanted effects that are heavily counteracted by the benefits. This study aims to describe adverse reactions from statins reported to the district pharmacovigilance program Bogota D.C. 2008-2016. Materials and methods. Descriptive cross-sectional exploratory study, where the analysis of the database provided by the District Health Secretariat from 2008 to 2016 was carried out, in which a series of cases of adverse reactions associated with the use of statins Have been reported through the format (report of suspected adverse drug event FOREAM). Results. During the year 2008 to 2016, a total of 153 adverse events and problems related to the use of statins were reported. One of the reports was 117 adverse reactions, 24 drug related problems and 12 therapeutic failures.
