Abstract:

The kichwas or Otavalo are an Andean indigenous people native from the North of Ecuador, that builds their cultural identity around practices of migration, trade and music. Since 1940, many kichwas traveled to Colombia in order to make exchanges of goods. In 2006, the Kichwa were organized as indigenous “cabildo” in the city of Bogota. Then, a female organization emerged in the cabildo; that organization was known as “Comite de Mujeres”. The purpose of this investigation is analyze the experiences of four kichwa women belonging to this organization toward differences and gender relationships among the kichwa collectivity. The experiences of these women was represented through the writing figure of conversations that took place in every stage of the investigation.
