Correlación de discapacidad con variables sociodemográficas y clínica en niños de 6 a 17 años con enfermedades gastrointestinales crónicas en las ciudades de Cali y Bucaramanga, Colombia
The evaluation of disability is a fundamental reference for decision-making, in terms of identifying needs, adjusting treatments, setting priorities, allocating resources, measuring results and determining the effectiveness of interventions and, at the same time, is relevant to health policy decisions. Chronic gastrointestinal conditions (CCHCs) are a group of diseases with an increase in their incidence and impact on the quality of life of children. Objective: To correlate disability with sociodemographic and clinical variables in children between 6 and 17 years with chronic gastrointestinal diseases in Bucaramanga - Colombia. Methodology: Cross-sectional and correlational study; non-probabilistic sampling of voluntary subjects with CGIC between 6 and 17 years was performed. Sample of 113 participants, the WHODAS 2.0 instrument endorsed by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of Colombia was used, resolution 0000583 of 2018. Results: We found direct and statistically significant correlation between sex, health affiliation with the domain cognition, on the other hand, we found positive correlation between age and the domain of daily activities. Regarding the clinical variables, there was a correlation between the use of external aids and the mastery of daily, domestic, and school activities. Conclusion: The population with chronic gastrointestinal diseases in the participating city of Bucaramanga showed low levels of disability, participation domains, daily relationships and activities with schoolwork showed higher average scores (greater disability), as age increases in children, greater disability occurs.
