According to WHO (World Health Organization) most people can live up to 60 years and over. The increase in life expectancy, coupled with significant declines in fertility rates is the cause of the rapid aging of populations worldwide. As referenced by the older population to investigate the experiences of the elderly in retirement where they take into account the thoughts and feelings that emerged before and during this (World Health Organization, 2015) This study is qualitative, where the semi-structured interview was used, facilitating the collection of information in order to learn about the experiences of the elderly in retirement, where in turn the gathering of participants was made through technical snowball. The categories that emerged in the analysis of information in relation to the thoughts before living in the stage of retirement, were: thought I would never retire and You think you can things you always wanted to do as for feelings they arose three categories Anxiety and looking forward to that time, it's a great opportunity for one to be free and Fear of getting to that stage. The categories emerged regarding the thoughts of the elderly in retirement were: You think that is no longer useful and not useful for society because that you see, It is difficult to assimilate and think now they go to very few people can reach retirement. As for feelings emerged the categories of Tranquility because there is no going back to work, Disappointment because it is not what one expects, Sadness and empty because not enjoy as you want and Happiness because I fulfilled a goal. Retirement is assimilated by the experience of every elderly, for some it can be a positive change because they see this time to engage in activities during their working years failed to do, for others it is a drastic and difficult to accept change.
