To connect with wider audiences, scholars, professors, teachers and other professionals, both native and non-native need at one point to make presentations but lack fluidity and impact when it comes to speaking in public. They may have good ideas, many facts and figures to communicate but do not know how deliver it in just 5, 10 or even 20 minutes. The session opens with a reflection on Aristoteles’ Art of Rhetoric – ethos, pathos and logos . Then it shares some exercises to understand and practice the basics of voice management, effective speaking, use of visual aids and timing. For public speaking, participants should have reinforced these concepts: Establishing authority (ethos), Empathizing with an audience (pathos), and Appealing to logical reasoning (logos).
