This paper aims to establish the importance of the Amazon in the international system, with emphasis on the Brazilian governance framework, which has as a substantial element to generate mechanisms of sovereign protection towards an invaluable resource for humanity. Through foreign policy, Brazil has promoted interesting mechanisms of governance in the Amazon region, such as the Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization (ACTO), which is a sign of a systematic deployment of Brazil to seek sovereign control of the Amazonians countries away from external interests.
