This research aims to determine the performance and characteristics of the Mexican system guarantees analyzing their evolution and the role it has played in the granting of credit for SMEs, comprising Mexico. As a documentary study of secondary sources of information on this topic was conducted. The main fi ndings are that Mexico has not implemented a System of Warranties itself, because what exists is a guarantee program that operates with public funds entirely, so even though the development of this program has been important in recent years given the great momentum that has been given, their coverage remains limited even to become a real solution to the problem of fi nancing SMEs in Mexico.
