This research project focuses on the design of an instrument of selection and evaluation criteria of press articles, in order to provide the teacher of Spanish as a Foreign Language with a guide to implement the use of journalistic texts in their classes and make the most of the advantages of this authentic material from the communicative approach. In that sense, there was an approximation to the literature to synthesize criteria related to specific categories of selection and evaluation. With the aim of supplying teachers with an instrument with these characteristics, it was proposed a material to gather the aspects to be taken into account to select and evaluate press articles and some news chosen from the national press that exemplify those criteria and suggest the language level and possible contents to work with the text in class.
