During the last two decades, economic, politic and social issues have influenced Colombian migratory flows. The diversity of destinations has been the choice for many whom have been affected by the global economic crisis, the tough security atmosphere in Colombian territory due to the internal armed conflict, or incentives to mobilize around emergent latinamerican countries. Thus, structural conditions on both original and destination countries are determining when migrating, and therefore, in addition to social and cultural factors, this continuous flow of people is to be understood in the field of politics, that is, in the roll that states play and how their policies affect the migration routes and conditions. In that sense, transnational approach to migration is a theoretical tool that offers a broad notion of the impacts and different meanings of migration both, in origin and destination countries, so it is used in this case for the analysis of migration policies, both the Colombian one and the Chilean one, and their leverage on Colombian's migratory flow into Chile.
