En Colombia la situacion actual de seguridad y salud en el sector de la construccion es muy compleja debido a que es el sector de la actividad economica que presenta el mayor numero de accidentes laborales en relacion con la poblacion ocupada en dicha actividad; constituyendo asi un problema social de gran importancia. En la presente comunicacion abordamos el estado actual de la seguridad y salud ocupacional en el sector de la construccion. Para ello se evaluo la evolucion de las publicaciones sobre el tema desde la decada de los treinta hasta la actualidad. Dada la enorme magnitud de la tarea, se limito su alcance a articulos de revistas de prestigio con revision externa, por considerar que en estos foros se define, en general, el estado del arte de una disciplina. Podemos afirmar que actualmente, la investigacion en seguridad y salud ocupacional en el sector de la construccion sigue siendo escasa, tratandose de un campo lleno de oportunidades y con un futuro prometedor. ABSTRACT }Actually in Colombia, the safety and health situation on the construction sector is very complex because it is the sector of the economic activity that present the major number of occupational accidents in relation to the population occupies in this activity; constituing therefore a social problem of great importance. The current state of labor safety and health in the construction industry is approached in this article. The sources published, exclusively in English, from the thirties to the present time were investigated. Given the huge magnitude of the task, only peer-reviewed papers were considered because the state-of-the-art of a discipline is defined in these forums, generally. As a final remark, nowadays, research in construction safety and health is still very limited, being a field with many opportunities and a promising future.
