To know the opinion of the parents of two schools in Bogota and Virginia Risaralda in order to understand what parents think about the knowledge, intervention and risk factor in the early consumption of alcohol in children 8 to 12 years. Data were collected from 161 parents. Several updated studies on the state of alcohol consumption within the historical, social and cultural spheres were reviewed. A descriptive quantitative cross - sectional study was carried out with an intentional sample, in which an opinion survey was applied to 161 parents of two educational institutions in the city of Bogota and another in Virginia Risaralda. The results show that parents 93.1% of parents report that they have ever consumed alcohol. They also say that the main cause of consumption in minors is the absence of rules with 74.3%. Active participation effective in prevention campaigns and that the primary responsibility for prevention and non-consumption early is the family. It is necessary to investigate and analyze in more detail the characteristics or factors that encourage the consumption of alcohol in children under 8 to 12 years of age from a holistic and multidimensional human approach. In order to develop health promotion and prevention programs more appropriately addressed to parents as active representatives for the family.
