In this paper it is presented the experience of an internal assessment process done, during the first semester of 2006, at the School of Law and Social Sciences of a Colombian university in which the evaluator, as a member of it, fulfilled an Atomistic Evaluation in which structured surveys were used as instruments to collect data; and referential statistical charts were utilized as a quantitative analysis method; to study some of the functional components of the institution: educational services, labour climate, teacher’s performance, director’s performance and physical resources. Nevertheless the results of this study can be interesting just for either the institution itself or the Accreditation National Council of Colombia, the organization of the assessment process, as such, can be appreciated for many teachers who, without being expert evaluators, want to have a more active participation in the life of their educational institution and to commit themselves with its improvement, intervening in self assessment processes.
