Method verification in a test laboratory permits to determine its suitability and own the ability to provide reliable results that integrate customer needs. The main aim of the study is to carry out the verification of the membrane filtration method for the detection and quantification of Legionella spp. in drinking water, following the guidelines of ISO 11731-2: 2004 by means of performance parameters evaluation as detection limit, intermediate precision, accuracy and uncertainty of the method. The results showed that it is possible to detect from 1 Colony Forming Unit in 100 mL of potable water, besides the performed analysis showed that the method is precise (C.V ˂ 2.0 %) and accurate (% R > 98 %) according to acceptance criteria proposed. Consequently, the method is suitable for application in the laboratory allowing reliable results
