The implementation and certification of quality, environmental and occupational health and safety management systems have become a priority for organizations. These systems are seen as a symbol of success and as a prerequisite for survival in business. However, it has been proven difficult to operate multiple parallel management systems and ensure their alignment with organizational strategy. To investigate the current status of the Integrated Management System (IMS) in small and medium enterprises (SMEs) attached to the Zonal Business Development Centers of Medellin, a survey was carried out in which the knowledge of the systems was analyzed, the state of strategic planning, a diagnosis regarding the quality management system, environmental management system and occupational health and safety management system. It was concluded missing knowledge and education in each of the systems; documentation did not exist and the elements of strategic planning weren’t written; lacked knowledge and advice regarding to the legal requirements; finally, in addition to customer requirements, employers were unaware of the requirements of suppliers and the community.
