Spanish Abstract: El objetivo del documento es evidenciar la incidencia de la propiedad intelectual en el desarrollo nacional y empresarial en el contexto de globalizacion vigente desde inicios del siglo XXI. En primer lugar, hace un recuento historico de la propiedad intelectual y el rol que ha desempenado en la sociedad internacional; seguidamente esboza argumentos que infieren el grado de incidencia de la propiedad intelectual en el desarrollo economico de los paises; posteriormente aborda la incidencia que tiene la propiedad intelectual sobre el crecimiento empresarial; concluye con una reflexion sobre la situacion de Colombia, en el contexto publico y privado, en materia de propiedad intelectual.English Abstract: The objective of the document is to show the impact of the intellectual property on the national and enterprise development in the globalization context since the early twenty-first century. First, it is a historical telling of the intellectual property and its role in the international society; then outlining the arguments to infer the incidence degree of the intellectual property in the economic development of countries and then discussing the inclusion impact of concepts directly related to the intellectual property in business growth activities. It concludes with a reflection on the Colombian situation, in public and private context, in terms of intellectual property.
