Relación entre la exposición a bajas temperaturas y el desorden músculoesquelético de la población trabajadora en una empresa del sector alimentos del departamento de Antioquia, 2013-2014
An Cross sectional study was performed to determine the relationship between exposure to low temperatures and the disorder musculoskeletal of the working population in two production factories in the food area of the Department of Antioquia. A sample of 107 people was studied; 50 were exposed in cold conditions and 57 were not exposed to cold conditions. Nordic Epidemiological Questionnaire was applied to this population and in advance it was asked to sign the informed consent which define the study parameters. The information obtained was analyzed under a statistical program: RR and RStudioRprogram. A binomial logistic regression was applied to categorical variables, β coefficient and probabilities in order to determine the Odds of success. The results show that 62% of the population exposed to cold environment, becomes worse (musculoskeletal symptomatology); the perceived discomfort improves with rest, in the afternoon and to being at home. Analyzing body, it shows that hand tends to the onset of pain when it is exposed to cold with a probability of 96%. Shoulder 58% of people report discomfort when exposed to cold. It is important to know that skeletal muscle disorder is multifactorial, so it is difficult for evaluation of cold risk as a causal factor; In addition there is a limited number of studies of the relationship of the cold and skeletal muscle disorders, which leads to the need to investigate more thoroughly the relationship, to generate preventive measures within the working environment.
