Calendula (Calendula officinalis L.) is a plant of great economic importance due to its medicinal potential.At the moment it is commercialized as fresh and processed product. In order to determine the potential of germi-nation o f calendula a test was carried out in the area of El Remanso at the Universidad de Ciencias Aplicadas y Ambientales U.D.C.A. of Bogota. The e ffectof fourstorage periods, two seed colors and the answer to two different substrates of the seeds was evaluated. The experimental design employed was a completely randomized one with factorial adjustment 4x2x2 for a total of 16 treatments with three repetitions. Significant differences between the treatments were detected. It was concluded that the seeds which showed the best performance were those with a longer resting period, a darker color and seeded in the substrate vermiculite.
