Factores asociados a la disminución de la lactancia materna exclusiva durante los primeros 6 meses de vida, en madres de estratos socioeconómicos altos en Bogotá^
The nonexclusive breastfeeding during the first 6 months of life is one of the major public health problems. The exclusive breastfeeding practice is one of the easiest and most effective ways to ensure good health, optimal growth and survival of children younger than 2 years. The results presented by ENSIN in 2010, showed that EBF is 1.8 months long and just 42.8 % of children under the sixth month were exclusively breastfed. Objective: identify the facts why mothers of high socioeconomic stratum in Bogota, do not breastfeed exclusively their children. Methods: 30 mothers of high socioeconomic stratum in Bogota. A crosssectional study was applied through a survey with variables related with EBF. The dependent variable was EBF and as independent variables were taken into account information about the parents, family structure, neonatal history and information on first 6 months of baby's life. Results: Exclusive breastfeeding was 2.1 months and the total breastfeeding was 6.6 months. Only 16.6% of children received EBF until the first 6 months. Conclusions: it was found that children that were cared by someone different from their mother in the first 6 months of life and the type of cesarean birth are facts that affect the EBF. Those children that were only child were exclusively breastfed for less time. It was found that mothers don´t know the meaning of EBF
