La presente investigacion plantea seis posibles tensiones que pueden generarse entre la familia y la escuela en algunas condiciones contemporaneas identificadas en America Latina. La construccion categorial de familia y escuela contemporanea, situadas en el contexto latinoamericano, constituyo el punto de partida para establecer –desde los referentes teoricos–, caracteristicas y necesidades de ambas instituciones por lo que a partir de una mirada emica y bidireccional se triangulo esta informacion con la obtenida en una institucion educativa de Bogota, que sirvio para identificar las caracteristicas, insuficiencias y posibilidades que cada una de estas organizaciones tiene en tres aspectos educacionales: ambiente escolar familiar, formacion academica, y valores o normas. The categorical construction of contemporary family and school found in the Latin American context, was the starting point to establish from the theoretical framework: the nature and needs of both institutions. From an emic and bidirectional perspective, this information was triangulated with information obtained in an educational institution in Bogota, while identifying the characteristics, needs and possibilities of each institution with respect to the other in three educational aspects: school / family atmosphere; academic training and / or values, and norms.
