Resumen: Este articulo representa la resena a la investigacion realizada por Jose Angel Rivas y Jorge Ariel Gomez, docentes de la I. E. San Francisco, ubicada en el municipio de Rionegro (Antioquia) y Elvia Patricia Arango, docente de la Universidad Catolica de Oriente que busca mostrar las cualidades que, pese a que naturalmente coexisten con imprevistos y desaciertos, propician la permanencia de los estudiantes de secundaria de la I. E. San Francisco, la cual adopta el modelo social constructivista. La teoria que origina este modelo da cuenta de una ruptura con la tradicion epistemologica, en la cual era fundamental la validez objetiva y la separacion entre la realidad y el pensamiento, el cual debia ser reflejo de la anterior. Abstract This article represents the review of the research conducted by the teachers Jose Angel Rivas and Jorge Ariel Gomez of the Educational Institution San Francisco, of the municipality of Rionegro (Antioquia-Colombia) and Elvia Patricia Arango, teacher of the Catholic of the North University Foundation. This research try to show the virtues, despite of the problems we can found, that promote dropout prevention of the high school of the Educational Institution San Francisco where has been adopted the constructivist social model. The theory from which this model is derived shows a rupture with epistemological tradition, in which was fundamental the objective validity and the gap between reality and thinking derived from this fact.
