Descripción de la efectividad y los costos institucionales del tratamiento con glucantime en pacientes con leishmaniasis cutánea, departamento de Boyacá 2013 - 2014
This is a retrospective descriptive study of 86 patients who fulfilled the inclusion criteria. A univariate and bivariate analysis of the sociodemographic characteristics was made, how effective is managing the disease with the meglumine (Glucantime®), institutional costs and adverse effects on patients of the municipalities of Puerto Boyaca and Otanche. It was observed that the age groups most affected were those of 0-14 years old, with 68.6%. Male gender was the most affected, with 57% and regarding the area of occurrence, 95.3% of the cases belonged to rural area. In relation to effectiveness, 91.6% of patients fulfilled with some of the criteria established by the clinical cure guide at the end of the monitoring. On the upper members is where most lesions are located and most of the cases presented a single lesion. It was found that 33.7% received the indicated dose of medication and 93.1% of these were cured. As for the total costs for all three items assessed, it was observed that the municipality of Otanche looked after 86% of patients and that the average cost is $ 258,664. The municipality of Puerto Boyaca reported 14% of the cases and the average cost was $ 290,307, with a difference in cost per patient of $ 31,643 between the two municipalities. A comparison on cost over effectiveness was performed and it was found that Puerto Boyaca spent $ 44,162 more than Otanche to cure his patients. Finally, 16.3% of the sample reported in medical records has presented some adverse effect, and pain was the most common with 57.9%.
