INSECTOS COMO POSIBLES FACTORES DE RIESGO DE INFECCIONES INTRAHOSPITALARIAS EN LAS ÁREAS QUIRÚRGICAS DE TRES INSTITUCIONES PRESTADORAS DE SERVICIOS DE SALUD EN EL DISTRITO DE BARRANQUILLA
It was determined the presence of insects as possible mechanical vectors of intrahospitalary infecƟ ons during December 2012 to February 2013, at three hospitals in the district of Barranquilla. Were collected by handly in surgical areas; were added to nutrient broth at 37°C for 24 hours, a peal was performed in nutrient and MacConkey agar. The idenƟfi caƟ on of bacteria was performed by tesƟ ng Gram, catalase, coagulase, oxidase and BBL Crystal method. Bacillus sp (43 %), Staphylococcus sp coagulase-negaƟ ve (29 %), Burkholderia cepacia (14 %), and Klebsiella pneumoniae (14 %), were the bacteria found. Conveyors insects were among Hymenoptera, Diptera, Coleoptera, Psocoptera and Opilionida orders. The areas involved were the dressing rooms, operaƟ ng rooms , corridors and recovery. This study shows that insects passing in surgical areas of hospitals in the district of Barranquilla, pose a risk of mechanical transmission of agents that can cause intrahospitalary infecƟ ons.
