The geological characteristics of Boyaca make this department a land rich in minerals such as coal, limestone, and iron. This is the reason why in 1948, the national government decided to develop the steel industry Paz del Rio, which cause a territorial reconfiguration at environmental, economic and social level. Today, more than half a century later, the consequences of this transformation are evident. In the 90´s, paticulary in Tasco, the small-scale mining, begin to locate in wilderness areas as a result of opencast mine closure of Acerias and the permanence of the demand for this mineral. That s how start to emerge conflicts between peasant farmers, members of the Association of Community Water Supply - ASOACTASCO- and mining town, which gives rise to a process of resistance that started as a conflict point pollution of water sources, but in the process that concerns are articulated with collective actions of different scales taking a more structural nature, and revealing deep tensions. This document makes a journey through the major changes generated by mining placing the emergence of a collective action of peasant resistance. Delves into the actions of ASOACTASCO collecting their voices to account repertoires, the creation of networks, major conflicts, potential, achievements and challenges of resistance, exploring in turn the relationship between what is given locally with processes other scales.
