PALABRAS CLAVE: Talco, flotacion espumante, lixiviacion. ABSTRACT: Talc found at the region of La Union (Antioquia) show high contents of iron, for this reason this material can not be used for some specific industries. The focus of this work was to develop, (at a lab scale) the way for processing this material and improving its characteristics, mainly its color. The tests done regarding this material were: foam flotation with Carboxyl-methyl Cellulose (CMC) and acid lixiviation, oriented to the decreasing of iron levels, obtaining 84.6% less of the normal content of Fe2O3, present in the mineral. It was also determined the Bond index to 150 mesh for this material; this information is vital to the determination of the cost in the milling instance, finding a value of 47.5 kW h/S t.
