the aim of this paper is to describe the functional results of the surgical treatment of unstable ankle fractures in the elderly at the Hospital Militar Central Bogota. Between january 2014 to december 2014 patients older than 60 years old whom presented to the ER with an unstable ankle fracture that required open reduction and internal fixation were selected to be part of this study. This is an observational retrospective study of cases. Information regarding relevant phisical examination foundings and measurements on the postoperative xrays were taken from the medical history of each patient. Functional scales and satisfaction scores were applied too.
