Document retention tables (DRT), are an organizational tool for managing files, consisting of a list of series, with its documentaries types that are assigned a dwell time within a file of internal management and a central file according to the current regulations within the institution and established by different government agencies, thus ensuring proper preservation, conservation and how it should be their final disposal; considering that the documentation is handled within a clinical laboratory hematology section is part of the clinical history of patients attending the hospital. The method adopted was exploratory documentary using as source of information in existing documentation in the Hematology Section of Clinical Laboratory in a fourth level Hospital. The results obtained allow the Clinical Laboratory of the Hospital have a guide for the documentary analysis in other sections of the Laboratory. The impact of this work is reflected in the right document management into the clinical laboratory, meeting the objectives of the Information Management has implemented in the Hospital.
