Objectives: To characterize diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer and to examine the extent and determinants of patient and provider delay in the presentation of breast cancer in health care centers in Bogota (Colombia). Materials and methods: We preformed a descriptive study trying to include all health care facilities attending breast cancer in Bogota. Each facility was visited during one year and women with breast cancer were included during 9 months. A questionnaire was applied and the clinical records were reviewed at the time of the survey and some months after, when the initial treatment was expected to end.
