Today, a series of social and ecological roblems threaten the future of generations to come and should be solved to ensure the well-being of humanity. Furthermore, if treated now, the quality of life of people nowadays could improve significantly. One of these problems relies on the limited character of natural resources. The present document focuses upon access to fresh, drinking water that, despite of being ruled by the United Nations as a fundamental human right, it is not in everyone s reach yet. Based on the above, this project seeks to optimize water use, exploring alternate water sources and basing itself, finally, in rainwater harvesting. On first instance, a search of preexisting information was made in order to establish the importance of the proposal, reviewing concepts such as sustainability, sustainable development and sustainable design. The state of art regarding collecting and/or purifying water was also examined. Under the Human Centered Design methodology, the rural district of Mochuelo Bajo in Ciudad Bolivar was chosen due to the fact that the problems that the community has to face are especially close to water management and quality. With the collaboration of its inhabitants, the needs and wants regarding this resource were identified. Given the proximity of this place to the Dona Juana landfill, an opportunity arose in the reuse of PET bottles as raw material of the final proposal.
