Abstract:

This paper describes self-regulatory strategies used by university students for reading comprehension in academic texts of the degree of Basic education of the faculty distance studies of the Pedagogical and Technological University of Colombia. In this sense, the study was based on a combination of both qualitative and quantitative approaches with a type of descriptive research. Therefore, study was based analysis through the application of survey for first semester students who were enrolled in the course of Communicative Competence. Finally, the results showed that students have difficulty in using self-regulatory strategies for the development of autonomy in reading comprehension of academic texts. So it is necessary to design a proposal based on self-regulatory strategies for reading comprehension along academic training the professional performance projection as future graduated.
