The purpose of this research was to determine the cognitive profile in 18-year or older compulsive gamblers in Medellin city; to achieve this were used a number of instruments like the YSQ, CCE-TP, IPA and EEC-M. Related to the results there were significant differences between the implied groups, like: thought interpretation cognitive distortions, overgeneralization, filtering, change fallacy and emotional reasoning; furthermore, positive revaluation stress facing strategies, facing difficulties expression and aggressive reactions. As a conclusion, the compulsive gamblers have a different cognitive profile compared to those of social gamblers.
