Domestic violence is a social problem considered in 1996 by the World Health Organization as a public health problem. Domestic violence attempt against human rights leaving those affected with long, medium and short term sequels. Violence against women and young people within the family has received less attention than partner violence or abuse towards children. The objective of the research is therefore to analyze the experiences of domestic violence in the lifetime of students from the National University of Colombia, Bogota. The study is a qualitative phenomenological investigation, based on the life stories of eleven students who underwent in-depth interviews. For the data analysis program Atlas Ti 5.2 was used. Findings account for acceptance of physical abuse as a form of correction, the young people report having experienced more than one form of mistreatment during childhood and infancy, the people interviewed have been direct victims of abuse and witnessed violence against their mothers; life stories reveal the persistence of male dominance to the couple, daughters and sons.
