In the study presented below, a description of the predominant organizational culture at the San Jorge University Hospital in the city of Pereira is conducted with 20 cooperatives assigned to the hospital and some people collaborating with the organization with the purpose of showing the characterization of this within the methodological outlines and the bonds that exist, using methods and techniques such as non participant or direct observation with observation checklists and a field journal, through the simple random sampling to select the key informants. The results evidence the formal and informal socio cultural factors of the corporate culture which occurs within the hospital, the cooperatives that work with it and the people that are directly or indirectly related to it. Thus affecting the achievement of the institutional results which represents a risk to the quality of the service provided by the hospital and to the continuance of the organization in time and space according to what was said by the hospital staff who were interviewed. Having carried out the analysis of the findings referred in each of the defined and approached categories (identity, coexistence, transcendence and change) an improvement proposal from the communication and permanent training aspects is undertaken. It is believed that if such proposals are carried out, they might improve the organizational culture of the health center, the interpersonal relationships, inter cooperatives relationships and the relationships between these and the administration by improving the service provided to internal and external clients and impacting them positively.
