Microorganismos marinos del Parque Explora: análogos para interpretaciones paleoambientales en ambientes carbonatados Marine microorganisms from Parque Explora: anologues to paleoenvironmental interpretations in carbonate settings
The benthic foraminifera and the ostracods of Neotropics have been used to reconstruct paleoenvironmental conditions in the sedimentary sequences where they have been found. Such interpretations follow the principle that fossil organisms share similar preferences with the actual living communities. However, the recent organisms can require specific environmental controls which might restring their abundances and diversities, and also it could difficult the extrapolations with the past. In the case of carbonate settings which were broad in northern South America, the marine aquariums from the Parque Explora (Medellin) could represent reliable analogues to understand the requirements of the recent microorganisms.
