Debido a los bajos desempenos de los estudiantes en las pruebas estandarizadas surge la necesidad de buscar estrategias que mejoren los procesos de ensenanza aprendizaje a traves del uso de las TIC. Este estudio se baso en un diseno de Investigacion Accion Educativa bajo el paradigma mixto, se selecciono un grupo de grado 9o, se utilizaron dos tecnicas para recolectar los datos: encuesta y observacion y se realizo la implementacion de una plataforma educativa. Se identificaron grandes ventajas como: la oportunidad de interactuar con hablantes o aprendices del idioma ingles; el acceso a recursos online; conocer aspectos culturales de paises de habla inglesa; desarrollar actividades de aprendizaje colaborativo y autonomo; estudiar sin presiones de tiempo ni espacio. Los resultados obtenidos mostraron estudiantes mas motivados y participativos y el uso del entorno virtual les mostro una nueva forma de mejorar sus procesos de aprendizaje a traves del uso de las TIC. Abstract Due to the students’ low performance on standardized tests it is necessary to find strategies to improve teaching and learning processes through the use of ICT. This study was based on an Educational Action Research design under the mixed paradigm, a group of Grade 9th was selected, and two techniques were used to collect data: survey and monitoring and implementation of an educational platform was performed. Great advantages were identified as: the opportunity to interact with speakers and English language learners; access to online resources; learn cultural aspects of English speaking countries; develop collaborative activities and independent learning; study without constraint of time and space.
