The purpose of this study was aimed at analyzing knowledge management for the training of researchers developed in the research centers of Private Universities from Maracaibo municipality, Zulia state. It was based on the theoretical postulates of North and Rivas (2008), Del Moral et al. (2007); Soto et al. (2007); Valhondo (2007); Probst et al. (2004); Alles (2005); Martinez et al. (2005); Collison and Parcell (2003); Koulopoulos and Frappaolo (2001), among others. The investigation was oriented under the positivist paradigm, inferential classified as a non-experimental design, transeccional field. Population censuses comprised of seventy-seven teacher-researchers assigned to research centers of the following private universities were selected: Cecilio Acosta, Rafael Urdaneta and Dr. Jose Gregorio Hernandez. Data were collected through surveys, using a questionnaire called GERCONFORINV. Content validity was obtained by consulting the opinion of ten experts, while reliability was calculated by Cronbach's Alpha coefficient, giving an r = 0.98. The analysis of the results was oriented by means of inferential statistics. It was concluded that in private universities under study knowledge management for training of researchers shows weakened especially in the application of transfer mechanisms and in promoting knowledge acquisition activities. Also, the need to strengthen human skills required in research training is evident.
