Fifty children with chronic recurrent tonsillopharyngitis (CRT) were followed during a period of 6 months. Most of them were preschool children. There was a significant association of CRT with respiratory hyperactivity. Twenty seven patients had 38 episodes of acute tonsillopharyngitis, 7(25.9%) due to Streptococcus b hemolytic group A; similar to patients with to antecedent of CRT. Monthly injections of Benzetacil during 6 months previous to this study did not prevent episodes of acute streptococcal tonsillopharyngitis.
