Today, several competitiveness models are known, but all of them are focused on determining such competitiveness on a national, regional and sectorial level. However, the commercial sector hasn't received enough attention on this matter. This is why there was a need to set a micro model that could be applied as an instrument to measure or identify the competitiveness in the commercial sector companies and organizations of the municipalities of Pereira, Dosquebradas and La Virginia. For the effect of formulating the proposal, it was indispensable to compile and study all the definitions of the term Competitiveness by different authors. At the same time the specific characteristics and features of the commercial companies of AMCO were analyzed and finally a new definition for competitiveness for these kinds of organizations was established. On the second part of the project, several competitiveness models created by experts were examined and the common aspects for the commercial companies were selected. Lastly, the new model was prepared and validated within some of the companies that belong to the commercial sector of the AMCO.
