El presente articulo de investigacion despliega los resultados del estudio, que se realizo en el periodo de 2008 a 2012 como parte del proceso de autoevaluacion y reacreditacion del Programa de Psicologia. Los datos se analizan a partir de un levantamiento de linea base de las caracteristicas 26 y 27, Formacion y Compromiso con la Investigacion, respectivamente, y de los indicadores inherentes a cada una de ellas, de conformidad con los requerimientos del Consejo Nacional de Acreditacion –CNA– a las instituciones de educacion superior. La investigacion del programa de Psicologia al que se refiere el presente trabajo mantiene una decidida identificacion con la politica de alta calidad direccionada por el CNA. De este modo, en dicho Programa se presenta una dinamica de permanente mejoramiento como via certera para el cumplimiento de la funcion social de la educacion superior, que debe orientarse a formar y producir conocimientos en respuesta a las necesidades reales de la poblacion, segun el contexto en el que se encuentra inmersa. Abstract The Psychology Research Program maintains a strong identification with high quality policy directed by the Consejo Nacional de Acreditacion –CNA– and a dynamic of continuous improvement as a way to ful ll the accurate social function of higher education focused on training and produce knowledge in response to the real needs of the population and context in which it is immersed. This research paper displays the results on the Academic and Social Relevance of Research in Psychology Program conducted from 2008 to 2012, as part of the process of self-evaluation and re-accreditation of the program which are analyzed from a survey of base line characteristics of 26 and 27, Training and Commitment to Research and indicators inherent in each of them, in accordance with the requirements of the CNA to institutions of higher education. The research carried out by the Psychology program, intends to establish a close concern about high quality proposed by CNA policy. In this way, this program shows a dynamic and permanent improvement in order to fulfill the accurate social function of higher education, that it must be oriented to form and produce knowledge in response to the real needs of the population, according to the context in which is immersed.
