Entrepreneurship and its effects on the economy and businesses are a matter of great interest in national and international contexts. The purpose of this paper is to address entrepreneurship as a strategy for economic development. It takes as a reference, the case of entrepreneurship in Colombia, particularly in Antioquia. The approach is made from the perspective of the Colombian regulatory framework, the analysis of certain types of entrepreneurship from international approaches and statistics that demonstrate, through case analysis, the behavior of important variables in the process of entrepreneurship and its impact on the economy. The study concludes that entrepreneurship not only benefits those who venture in it, but also has an indirect effect on the rest of society.
